Lawrence Golub is the Chief Executive Officer of Golub Capital, a market-leading, award-winning direct lender and experienced credit asset manager. As of July 1, 2023, Golub Capital had over $60 billion of capital under management, a gross measure of invested capital including leverage. Golub Capital partners with institutional investors and family offices offering tailored solutions for investors’ credit asset strategies. The Firm specializes in delivering reliable, creative and compelling financing solutions to companies backed by private equity sponsors. Golub Capital has been a top 3 U.S. Middle Market Bookrunner each year from 2008 through Q2 2023 for senior secured loans of up to $500 million for leveraged buyouts. Golub Capital has been consistently recognized with industry awards, including Lender of the Year, Americas (Private Debt Investor, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022) and Senior Lender of the Year, Americas (Private Debt Investor, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020).

Mr. Golub is active in charitable and civic organizations. He is a member of the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows, a member of the Columbia Medical School Board of Advisors, President of the Harvard University JD-MBA Alumni Association, a member of the Advisory Council of Harvard Kennedy School’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government and a trustee of the American Repertory Theater. Mr. Golub currently serves on the Stanford Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Council and the Advisory Board of Stanford Impact Labs.

Mr. Golub was a private member of the Financial Control Board of the State of New York for over twelve years. He was a White House Fellow and served for fifteen years as Treasurer of the White House Fellows Foundation. He was Chairman of Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a non-profit developer and manager of low-income housing in the Bronx. He served for fifteen years as a trustee of Montefiore Medical Center, the university hospital of the Albert Einstein Medical School.

Previously, Mr. Golub was a Managing Director of Bankers Trust Company. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director of Wasserstein Perella, where he established the firm’s capital markets group and debt restructuring practice. Mr. Golub started his career at Allen & Company Incorporated where he engaged in private equity, leveraged finance and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Golub earned his AB degree magna cum laude in economics from Harvard College. He received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was selected as a Baker Scholar, and a JD from Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.


Moderator:   

Jim Mohan, CFA is an Investment Consultant with Mercer based in the Chicago Office. His primary focus is on providing direct support to clients and consultants, specifically not-for-profit relationships in the U.S.  Jim joined Mercer in 2021 and has fifteen years of investment experience.

Prior to joining Mercer, Jim founded the ESG advisory and implementation firm DuPage Investment consultants in 2020. Prior to DuPage, Jim spent two years as a relationship manager at Christian Brothers Investment Services. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from DePaul University.  He is a CFA charterholder and holds his CIPM. Jim is an active member of the CFA Society – Chicago, contributing as a Co-Chair of the Distinguished Speakers Series advisory group and member of the Annual Dinner advisory group. Jim also volunteers his time teaching financial literacy to underserved youth with Cents Ability.
