Bon French, CFA, chairman of Adams Street Partners, is joining us for our October Distinguished Speaker Series luncheon and webcast! French, who has been with Adams Street for 41 years, will provide an update on the private equity industry. He will also address the tremendous growth in the private equity/private credit asset class as well as the opportunities and challenges therein. This will include thoughts on the continued democratization of the private markets arena, the growth in interest in ESG investing, and what the private equity industry is doing to further diversity, equity and inclusion. 
 
Adams Street is a global private markets firm with $46 billion under management and has five practice areas within private markets: primary investments in private equity and venture capital partnerships, secondary investments in funds and companies, co-investments in private equity-backed companies, growth equity investments in emerging companies, and private credit lending to private equity backed companies.

Speaker Bio:

Bon French, CFA, is the chairman of the Board of Directors and has been with Adams Street Partners and its predecessor organizations since 1980. He was instrumental in the development of Adams Street’s private equity investment strategies, fund management, and investor relations. French is sought out by private equity firms, consultants, and investors for advice and recommendations on a variety of private equity topics.

French has been a guest lecturer to business schools, Wall Street firms, private equity conferences and industry trade associations about various investment topics and strategies. He was a member of the CFA Institute Committee (formerly AIMR – the Association for Investment Management and Research), which made recommendations concerning standards for reporting performance in private equity. French was also a contributor to the ICFA’s first book on the subject of private market investments, Investing in Venture Capital (1988). 

French sits on the advisory boards of New Enterprise Associates and Madison Dearborn Partners. French is chairman of the Adams Street Partners Board of Directors. He is a member of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Investment Committee at Northwestern University. He is also a member of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management Dean’s Advisory Council. French is a member of CFA Institute, CFA Society Chicago’s Leadership Council, the Economic Club of Chicago, and Chairman of the Board of the Center for Railroad Photography and Art. French is also a former director of the National Venture Capital Association, and former chairman of the Board of the Chicago History Museum, where he remains as a Trustee. French received his BA and MBA from Northwestern University.
