Join Ares CEO, Michael Arougheti, for a fireside chat moderated by Boeing’s CIO, Liz Tulach, CFA, on a range of topics in the alternative asset management industry. Arougheti will provide his views as CEO of one of the largest alternative asset managers and Tulach will share her insights as an asset allocator and CIO of the largest corporate pension plans in the United States. Anticipated topics include the case for alternative investments and the secular drivers behind them, the impacts of macro trends on private market investing and current market opportunities and their views on the future of private market investing.

Speaker Bio:
Michael Arougheti is a Co-Founder of Ares and the Chief Executive Officer and President, as well as a Director of Ares Management Corporation. He is a member of the Ares Executive Management Committee. He additionally serves as Co-Chairman of Ares Capital Corporation ("ARCC"), Co-Chairman of Ares Acquisition Corporation ("AAC") and as a director of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation ("ACRE"). Arougheti also is a member of the Ares Credit Group's U.S. Direct Lending and Pathfinder Fund Investment Committees, the Ares Equity Income Opportunity Strategy Portfolio Review Committee and the Ares Operations Management Group.
Prior to joining Ares in 2004, Arougheti was employed by Royal Bank of Canada ("RBC") from 2001 to 2004, where he was a Managing Partner of the Principal Finance Group of RBC Capital Partners and a member of the firm's Mezzanine Investment Committee. Arougheti oversaw an investment team that originated, managed and monitored a diverse portfolio of middle-market leveraged loans, senior and junior subordinated debt, preferred equity and common stock and warrants on behalf of RBC and other third-party institutional investors. Arougheti joined RBC in October 2001 from Indosuez Capital, where he was a Principal and an Investment Committee member, responsible for originating, structuring and executing leveraged transactions across a broad range of products and asset classes. Prior to joining Indosuez in 1994, Arougheti worked at Kidder, Peabody & Co., where he was a member of the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions Group.
Arougheti also serves on the board of directors of Operation HOPE, a not-for-profit organization focused on expanding economic opportunity in underserved communities through education and empowerment. Additionally, he is a member of the PATH Organization Leadership Council. Mr. Arougheti received a B.A. in ethics, politics and economics, cum laude, from Yale University.
Moderator Bio:
Elizabeth M. Tulach, CFA, is the Chief Investment Officer for The Boeing Company with responsibility for overall plan strategy, asset allocation, implementation and risk management across the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans. Prior to her appointment as CIO, Tulach was the Deputy Chief Investment Officer responsible for the Defined Contribution plan and the Global Equity and Private Equity asset classes in the Defined Benefit plan. She was the Managing Director – Strategy and Asset Allocation for seven years and spent the first six years at Boeing as the Managing Director – Alternatives. In this role, she was responsible for the growth and development of the Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Real Estate and Real Assets programs.
Prior to joining Boeing in November 2005, she was a Senior Vice President at GE Capital where she focused on both Private Equity Fund and direct equity investing. From 1995 to 2002 she was a member of The University of Chicago Office of Investments and for the last three years of her tenure, the Assistant Vice President and Director of Private Equity.
Tulach received an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago and a B.S. degree in accountancy from Northern Illinois University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a CFA charterholder.
She currently serves as a board member of the Starkey Hearing Foundation and the Chicago Public Library Foundation. She is also an investment advisor to the board of The Cleveland Foundation.
