Nick Vassilos, CFA, is a managing director and head of risk and performance analytics for Schwab Asset Management (SAM). He is responsible for SAM’s investment and operational risk management function through measuring and monitoring portfolio risks and maintaining best in class operational risk processes and standards. He is also responsible for the team providing performance, attribution, and competitive analysis.
Vassilos has over 15 years of experience in risk management. Prior to joining Charles Schwab in 2018, he was the global portfolio acquisition and analytics leader at Morningstar. In this role he drove portfolio data improvements and generated new multi-asset analytics. Prior to that he managed his own equity options focused fund, Wave Options. Preceding this experience, he worked at Citigroup in London, where he started the company’s European Delta One trading desk.
Vassilos earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. He is a CFA® charterholder and is co-chair of CFA Society Chicago’s Distinguished Speaker Series Advisory Group. Schwab Asset Management is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab corporation, and has nearly $800 billion under management in ETFs, mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and collective trusts. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, multi-asset, asset allocation strategies, and money market funds.

Amy Falls was appointed Vice President and Chief Investment Officer for Northwestern University in May 2021. She is responsible for managing the University’s $14 billion diversified portfolio. The endowment supports a wide range of University operations including undergraduate and graduate financial aid, University institutes and centers, faculty positions and department chairs, research, and athletics. She is responsible for about a quarter of the University’s annual revenue. Falls came to Northwestern from Rockefeller University, a biomedical research institution in New York, where she had served as chief investment officer since 2011. Prior to that, she was the founding chief investment officer of Phillips Academy Andover. In both of these roles, Falls attained top decile performance, including generating the second highest performance in 2020 among University endowments greater than $1 billion. Ms. Falls received her B.A. in History from Georgetown University and a Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She currently serves on the Boards of Harvard Management Corporation and The Ford Foundation and is the Chair of the Board of Phillips Academy Andover. Ms. Falls lives in Lake Forest, IL with her husband Hartley Rogers and has three daughters.
